This set of fourteen (14) authentic antique stone lithographs are from the mid 19th century edition of Smith’s Illustrated Astronomy. Printed on one side only. These fourteen charts, diagrams and celestial or heavenly maps show principles of planetary motion and feature other astronomical phenomena, the moon, and the constellations.There is also a lithograph of a telescope. Astronomy text is on the reverse of each image. The visual elements in Smith’s astronomical prints are characterized by large graphic blocks of white against black, repeating geometric forms, and linear elements, typically circles and ovals representing orbits.
