African barbed fishing spear w/round point, carbon steel, Nilotic tribe, Sudan. This spear was probably made by the Shilluk tribe of south central Sudan. The Shilluk live on the Nile River in the area around Malakal. The spearhead is 15.75 inches long and not quite 1 inch at its widest part which is here it would have been joined to a shaft. It's made of carbon steel and has pointing barbs running down opposite sides of a rectangular shaped shaft. There is a cross hatch pattern etched into to sides of the spear next to the barbed areas. The spear weights 11.4 ounces.
